To commemorate 10 years in dance music and of a growing interested in the Hardcore / Jungle of the early nineties I've chosen to re-release some of the best of my early tracks, most of which are very hard to obtain on the original 12" vinyl. Most of these tracks were re-mastered from the original Akai S950 / Atari ST1040 floppy disks because the original D.A.T. masters have been lost. They were re-mastered at the studio of Roger from the group 'Tone Def', one of the first artists on the label 'Moving Shadow', who was my mentor back when I started in '92. At this studio was where I originally worked on my first tracks with Roger as engineer. Of all the different genres of music I've worked in, one of my favorite was the early nineties Hardcore / Jungle, this was a very exciting era ,before the genre segregation took hold later on, it was the start for many of dance music's biggest names.

Side a / b

This was my first ever track, a sample from the Rabbit City 04 EP was the main loop with a bit from Vivaldi's 'The Four Seasons' as the classical breakdown in the middle. Breaks used were 'Amen Brother' by The Winstons and 'Funky Nassau' by Beginning Of The End.
This one got played on Radio One by Slipmatt much to the amazement of my friends. Utilizing a breakbeat from 'Cutter Mix' -Rabbit City 01 and kick drums from Beltram's 'My Sound' (this always kicks and I used it loads) the track was very stompy which contrasted 'Don't Stop' on the other side. A vocal sample from Rhythm Section's 'Atomic EP' and synth from The Badman Presents 'Come With Me' were some of the other samples used.
This track was quite big at the time and I heard it played quite often, it got a 5/5 write up in Mixmag. The synth and vocal came from Shannon's 'Stronger Together' and breaks were Dynamic Corvettes 'Funky Music Is The Thing' and Sly And The Family Stone's 'Sing A Simple Song'
This was massive, my biggest hardcore track. Grooverider played this all the time in '93. A sample from a a space documentary soundtrack album 'Cosmos' put though a sampler and played around with made up the synth breakdowns with 'Amen Brother' as the break with a vocal sample from UTFO's 'Leader Of The pack'.
This was an unofficial remix of Mental Cube 'Q', speeded up a bit with loops from Meat Beat Manifesto's 'Radio Babylon' and Symphony Sounds 'Really Living' over it to give it the '92 style and a vocal sample from The Disco Four's 'Do It Do It', this was played by Carl Cox loads of times
This was the nearly the same a Junk 04 but I just mashed the samples up a bit more to make a remix.

Side c / d

This first came out on the Junk 06 EP but Bukem was into this but wanted an Amen version to cut on a dub plate. I did the Amen version which is what this is and Bukem cut it and played it, later I put this track on the Junk 08 EP.
After hearing D.J. SS play a very dark set at The Sanctuary I came back and made this, based on what I'd heard the night before. The main synth is from 2001's 'No Where' ,the rest of the stuff are mashed up samples and breaks.
This was another unofficial remix, this time of 'Virtual' by Black Dog. I just looped up the original and put Amen Brother breaks over the top. Bukem was into this as well.

More dark jungle, I was getting into cutting up different breaks more and more, these are bits from about 3 different breaks, sounds come from a synth demo CD and the Cosmos soundtrack again.
This never got released in '93 because a distributor pulled out of a P+D deal, it was going to be on Junk 09. I'm glad now to eventually get it out. This was an Amen Brother frenzy with samples from Jean Michael Jarre.
This is similar to Junk 04, this version was for the other side of Junk 09 so it never got out either, another version I put out on Junk 10 but I prefer this version. This was the 'Cosmos' sample again but a different part to Junk 04, mashed up even more to make this almost medieval sound.
