The Third compilation
in this series ,cataloging some of the best but hard to obtain Hip Hop,Funk
& Electro tracks.
Selected by 'Junk' ,a breaker in 'Second To None' these track are a must for Hip Hop/Funk/Breaks D.J.s and collectors.
'It's
Yours' T La Rock & Jazzy Jay This is one
of those sought after old skool hip hop track that you have
to pay a lot of money for if you're buying it from anyone who
knows what it is. Wicked scratching by D.J. legend 'Jazzy Jay'
who was in the hip hop film 'Beat Street'. There's a video for
this track as well but it's very hard to track down. If anyone
has got it, I'd swap a copy for a test press of the next B-Boy
Anthems. One of those
funky tracks you always hear played everywhere, the break has
been use on lots of Hip Hop tracks over the years. This mega-mix
track influenced me to get into sampling, very cleverly put
together considering the technology available at the time it
was made. Old skool classics mixed up into one track. An old skool
break that's been cut up since the Cool Herc days. The original
is one of those breaks you put on 45 rpm when it is intended
for 33 play. This was recorded at 45 for this album so you can
play it on the 33 setting. The break part at the beginning of
the track and a bit of the music has been looped up for extended
play. The rest of it was left out. Side 2
'King
Kut'
Word Of Mouth feat. D.J. Cheese D.J. Cheese
was probably the best scratch D.J. in the world when this track
came out, anyone who saw him at U.K. Fresh '86 will know what
I mean. This tune, well known for that french national anthem
bit is hard and raw and has Cheese cutting up bits of 'Jam Master
Jay' by Run DMC. The 45 King
was the one of the first to loop this up on a sampler, since
hearing those beats I was intrigued to find out what it was
and was amazed when I found out. I myself have cained this break
but it's not just the break which is raw, the whole track is
as funky as they come and just great for doing loads of mental
footwork to. Unless you've
been living in a hole in the ground you'll recognise the sample
in this track used by the Chemical brothers, here's the original
and it's wicked. This was on Electro 9 but it's a different
version to the 12" mix on this album. This track is
a dis to LL Cool J. MC Shan claims LL Stole his beats, I don't
blame him, I've stole his beat as well. Produced by Marley Marl
these beats are well worth stealing . click tracks to download
